Charles Mingus was born on 22 Apr 1922 in Los Angeles, California. His birth name was Charles Mingus, Jr.. Charles Mingus died on 05 Jan 1979.

Charles Mingus, Jr. was an American jazz bassist, composer, bandleader, and pianist. He was also known for his activism against racial injustice.
Mingus is considered one of the most important composers and performers of jazz, a pioneer in bass technique, and he recorded many highly regarded albums.
