In their brief, three-year career, October Project released two albums with soaring, sweeping, aching melodies. Their popularity was due to the enormous sound of Mary Fahl's powerful lead vocals. Her voice was the focal point of a sound dominated by vocal harmonies, although all four of the band's musicians sing at some point. Blessed with a magnificent range, Mary Fahl is an expressive, emotional singer/songwriter who is best known for the three years she spent with the October Project. In fact, Fahl has been quoted as saying that she likes female vocalists to sound like women instead of girls.
