Well, one fine weekend last August we headed out to River Meadows County Park just off Jordan Road outside Arlington. My fascination with weird Northwest culture is pretty well documented, but this was just too good to pass up. The Stillaguamish Festival of the River, August 11th and 12th 2007. Put on each year by the Stillaguamish tribe ostensibly to raise awareness about environmental issues and tribal traditions, I personally remember it as being another summer music festival for the regional outcasts, hippies, punks, posers, craft-fair superstars, greyhaired bikers, and all other outlandish types that make this state cool. One year I saw an all-female blues band from Granite Falls by the name of Swamp Mama Johnson play.
