I was & still am a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan, although being honest I do not listen to them anywhere near as much as I used to!
When I first heard of them I had been listening to N.W.A. & Snoop Doggy Dogg in the early 90`s & was begining to like hip-hop more than I originally thought I would, back then radio 1 had a D.J. called Tim Westwood who was on air on a friday/saturday night & it was then that I 1st heard the Wu-Tang Clan being played quite a lot & I liked their style of hip-hop...it was different to anything else I had heard at the time & I instantly got hooked to their own brand of music!
I went & bought ENTER THE WU-TANG (36 CHAMBERS) WHICH I THOUGHT WAS EXCELLENT, So from there I bought THE W & IRON FLAG as soon as they were released over here in the U.K. (Scotland), I thought that THE W was genius & IRON FLAG was good too!! But then I got Wu Chronicles which to be blunt I thought was shit..a real disapointment for me but then I started downloading sum tunes from RZA...bobby digital ect..& for me I thought that would be the start of more great stuff to come....but I am still waiting for that REAL WU-TANG CLAN SOUND!!!
Now I don`t listen to hip-hop as much as I did when I was younger but I do listen to different hip hop artists every now & then...my musical taste is now various going from Joy Division/New Order...The Streets..Gorillaz..La Roux..Radiohead..U2..Plan B..LCD Soundsystem..Kano..The Smiths..The Ting Tings..The Clash..The Fall..Massive Attack..even some Madonna stuff..Jay Z..Chemical Brothers..Kasabian..Artic Monkeys..Amy Winehouse..Happy Mondays...I could go on & on but no need as I think your getting the picture by now, just to say though that the Wu-Tang Clan should go into the history books as pioneers of their own brand of hip-hop...THANX FOR MANY GREAT TRACKS BOYS...MARICO.
